
Dr. Colleen Clancy
Dr. Colleen Clancy received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Manitoba in 1988 and began her career in dentistry with the Canadian Armed Forces. Dr. Clancy began practicing family dentistry in the Comox Valley in 1991 and has been treating patients in her current location at Crown Isle Professional Centre since 2015.
Dr. Clancy is highly respected by others in her field for her high level of technical skill, professionalism, and careful eye for details. Dr. Colleen Clancy’s commitment to ongoing education and training increases the expertise that she and her staff can offer to patients.
Dr. Colleen Clancy Implements Dental Practice Advancements
Dr. Clancy completed the full core curriculum at the Pankey Institute from 2004-2008. This commitment to continued education in her field has provided Dr. Clancy with improved dental techniques and in-house lab procedures as well as new benchmarks and ways to evaluate and record findings. Dr. Colleen Clancy has carefully implemented these dentistry advances into her own practice and added more since then, offering additional technique training for staff as well as new tools, information, and dental care options for her patients.
Dr. Clancy was a member of a David Latz-Tanner Study Club from 2006-2009. She was also a member of a local interdisciplinary study club from 2008-2010 and is a current member of both the West Coast Study Club since 2006, a local Spear Institute affiliated study club, and a member of The Faculty Study Club at The Spear Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, she and her dental staff also attend the annual Pacific Dental Conference to stay current on new information, materials, and available techniques. Dr. Clancy’s staff completes a customized medical emergency in-house training day course annually with semi-annual refreshers.
Dr. Colleen Clancy Gives Back to the Comox Valley
Dr. Colleen Clancy is a generous supporter of Comox Valley communities. Her Courtenay Dental office donates in harmony with its values for promoting strong health, family, and community. Dr. Clancy is one of 18 dentists in the Comox Valley who regularly contributes her time to support community and dental health by providing consultation for dental emergencies to physicians through St. Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Room.
Since the spring of 2010 each Friday at Dr. Clancy’s office is “Jeans Day”. This fundraising initiative gives her and her staff the option of wearing jeans to work, as part of their usual Comox Valley dentist office uniform, in exchange for a donation to charity. Dr. Colleen Clancy is happy to double donations contributed by her staff. Staff have voted enthusiastically and unanimously to continue this fun tradition. Currently the charity of choice for this fundraiser is YANA.
Donations and Charity Fundraising by Dr. Colleen Clancy
Dr. Clancy’s office has participated and generously donated annually since 2000 in the dental community fundraiser for the Comox Valley Child Development Association. This annual event is coordinated by Shoreline Specialty Clinic and promotes access and adaptations for children to support them in their growth and development.
Dr. Clancy also donates to various charity and research organizations as well as the fundraising initiatives of her patients. These have included the BC Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society, Tour de Rock, as well as various chapters of local clubs including the Cumberland Rotary Club, Comox Valley Boys and Girls Club, Comox Valley Family Services, and Comox Valley Minor Hockey Association. Dr. Clancy especially enjoys allocating her quarterly Giving Back funds in support of her patients’ individual fundraising endeavors.
